is cooking an art or a science? no, it’s passion and instinct

Food of Course

What my students have to say....

I cannot imagine an equivalent course where I could have been instilled with more confidence, have gained more knowledge and have had more fun. I also go away with so many fond memories. Anna Lewis

The course was amazing and I wear the apron with pride. You foster a warm, relaxed but professional environment in which to learn. I came away with a sense of pride in all my achievements. Naomi Day

When I walked through the door at Lou’s house, I honestly could not fry an egg. Six weeks later I am cooking a three-course dinner party for fourteen people. The skills that I learnt there gave me a newfound confidence in cooking and will stay with me for the rest of my life. Not only did I learn a lot during my time with Lou, but I also had brilliant fun. The outings, to the local butcher and the fish market, made the learning dynamic and interesting. I met a diverse mix of people on the course many of them I am still in contact with months later. I loved every minute of it and have come out with lots to show for my time. Fenella Keymer

Where to start? Thank you so much for everything you have done for me over the past month. To be totally honest - I was so nervous about the course, but since returning home I haven’t left the kitchen… you have been such an inspiration and I have now already cooked several meals and am beginning to fill freezers. Letty Bell

Thank you so much for such a superb course. We covered so much and it really exceeded my expectations. Fiona Bromet

To say I enjoyed the course is a huge understatement. Lou, your excellent ability to impart your vast knowledge of a subject you clearly love was an enormous benefit to us all. Garry Fisher

I wanted to write to tell you how brilliant I thought it was and how happy I am that I chose to do your course. I had a wonderful week and learnt so much about cooking and ideas, not to mention how great the company was. Zoë Northcote-Smith

Confidence boosting, exhausting and inspirational. It has been a giggle a minute and I just wish it could last a bit longer. Caroline Marshall

On reflection, after my gap year was over, your course was one of the best things I did. Harriet Broadfoot

My son Fred and I had a lesson from Emily yesterday on boning a partridge. She has obviously learnt so much and really enjoyed herself - as you say a life long skill which I'm sure she will love forever. You have even taught her to do the washing up which is fantastic! Alison Few-Brown, Emily’s mother

She obviously had an amazing time and also managed to learn a lot too!  She has come back ready to start her gap year full of the joys of spring - undoubtedly because of the great start you have given her. Jane Milligan, Sophie’s mother
